Jan Fretz was commissioned to do this painting to promote our musical. It highlights the role of the churches and pulpits as central places of debate. It also uses colours and images to highlights water as an ongoing theme in this story. Water was used in the baptism of children and adults, many anabaptists were drowned in the rivers of Europe, the river was the lifeblood of the towns, and water was often used as a metaphor of the cleansing power of the Holy Spirit. A canvas copy of this work of art will be on display at every performance and will be awarded to a lucky raffle ticket holder after the final show. Raffle tickets will be available at every show. Poster and "Plak-It" copies of the painting will also be available for purchase at the show. The original painting is on display at the Fleur de Soleil Gallery in the Silos in St. Jacobs. |
